About SOSU/BU
Fall 2010 marks 10 years of service for Society of Sisters United/Brothers United. We are a community-service based organization with a unique and distinguished purpose—to give back to our communities while demonstrating altruism, intelligence, responsibility, dedication and trustworthiness. We are sisters of liberty and brothers of dignity. Our colors are black and silver.
At present, we boast membership of more than 100 sisters and brothers with a common goal: to present with keen leadership and passion for service.
It is very important to note that SOSU/BU has always been, and continues to be, a student-run organization on the Hartwick College campus. While we have amazing advisors, SOSU/BU has an elected Executive Board that works with the general members to coordinate and execute all decisions pertaining to the progression of the organization. Elections for Executive Board positions take place during the Spring semester each year and are highly sought-after by budding leaders within the organization.
As students, we created, organized and continue to run an organization whose primary objective is to serve the Hartwick community and our individual communities. We participate in a number of community-service events each year and are very proud to have most recently adopted a highway in Oneonta. Our commitment to our community is strong and evidenced by our regular participation in service events like Saturday’s Bread (a soup kitchen in Oneonta), past participation in a School Supply Drive for children of South Africa, and clothes drives for needy families in Oneonta, just to name a few.
We are excited about our continued growth in numbers as well as in the quality of our dedicated members.
