Cheers to 10 years!

To celebrate the inaugural decennial of SOSU/BU, the alumni members of SOSU/BU reunited on the Hartwick College campus for a weekend of events. The first of which was a Meet & Greet with current members during a SOSU/BU general meeting. Members, past and present, enjoyed a number of brief presentations produced by alumni members designed to offer bits of helpful worldly wisdom.

Saturday’s events consisted of the 1st Annual Celebration of Diversity at Hartwick. This reception marked Hartwick’s celebration of its effort to promote and embrace diversity as well as the contributions of its ALANA students and alumni. In addition to recognizing alumni members who were pivotal in the development of the weekend’s events, the SOSU/BU Alumni Association presented its very first scholarship award to a very deserving member, current SOSU/BU president and Biochemistry major, Brittanie Philese Kemp ’11.

The diversity event served as an excellent pre-cursor to the SOSU/BU celebration dinner held later that evening. Alumni and current members reminisced and bonded over Italian cuisine. Many members recount a beautiful evening with beautiful people.

As a close to the weekend, members gathered for brunch in the Commons—Hartwick’s dining hall—on Sunday morning. Another perfect venue for recounting the weekend’s events, alumni members departed with a feeling of hope and anticipation of what to look forward to from the SOSU/BU Alumni Association for 2011.
